It is estimated that about 70 to 80% of the world’s population depends on medicines of plant origin for treatment of diseases. The use of medicinal plants in the management of acute and chronic wounds is common in most traditional medicine practices in the world. This study emphasis on the in vivo wound healing and in vitro antibacterial and antioxidant activity of herbal lotions/creams prepared from extract of local medicinal plant, Acalypha indica (known as Kucing Galak). FTIR analysis result shows the extract content bioactive compounds which demonstrate antioxidant activity by scavenging free radicals using in vitro model. In addition, Tests were conducted on cats with skin lesions, as well as on a sample of a respondent with skin lesions. After being sprayed with this research product, the wound has healed in just three weeks. In conclusion, it has been proven by laboratory tests conducted that Acalypha indica is a potent antiseptic alternative that is effective has commercialization potential.

Umar Kassim, Ahmad Anas Nagoor Gunny, Mohd Faidz Mohamad Shahimin, Mohd Hishamuddin Che Mat, Najuwa Mohd Nasir and Sk Muiz…

[10,14
