LEMUNI HITAM-SHERBS: A GOOD ANTICEPTIC SOURCE

Abstract: ‘Lemuni Hitam’ is an aromatic shrub. In Malaysia, ‘Lemuni Hitam’ is commonly known in the northern region and widely used in preparing ‘Nasi Lemuni’ and also well-known among certain people who know the benefits of this plant traditionally. This plant have a great potential for producing antioxidant and antimicrobial compounds as it contains phenolics and flavanoids. Therefore, ‘lemuni hitam’ leaves are used in this investigation to determine whether it can be used as a natural antiseptic. This plant can benefit us, as an alternative natural antioxidants, as in making ‘lemuni tea’, capsules widely used in preparing “Nasi Lemuni” and as a natural antiseptic solution. We should grow it as a cash crop plant.
